Recently I attended a launch event for GE new French Door Refrigerator which features their most sophisticated ice and water technology available currently. From dispensing hot water to it's hands-free autofill, these new GE refrigerators aimed to make life more convenient at home for families.
During the first presentation, I learned about the history of GE Appliances and how these new french door refrigerators fit into the family of GE appliances.
Breaking new ground, the GE Profile model Hands-free Autofill system eliminates the need to stand and wait, automatically filling any container with filtered water. While, the GE Café model is the first refrigerator to feature a hot water dispenser, capable of serving up tea and oatmeal in minutes.
Both are industry breakthroughs with easy-to-access advanced filtration system that removes 98 percent of five trace harmful pharmaceuticals (ibuprofen, atenolol, fluoxetine, progesterone, and trimethoprim) from water and ice.
Then we watched experts demonstration how using the new refrigerators can simplify your life and kitchen duties. I was excited to see my blogging friend Audrey of MomGenerations as one of the experts there.
Audrey highlighted how a simple feature such as the hot water dispenser, can make a mother's life easier. Audrey explained the different ways the hot water dispenser can be used to make oatmeal, soup, tea or hot cocoa and even for making baby formula. Check out the below video to hear Audrey talk more about how hot water dispenser can help moms
Julie Reiner, a famous mixologist, showed how to use the advanced filtration system to make beverages. Julie explained how water and ice can affect the taste of drinks so having it filtered is a good feature.
Julie Morgenstern, a professional organizer demonstrated how to have an organized fridge so you can find items you need to cooking. She also highlighted how the new refrigerators have adjustable areas so you can store tall and bulky items.
Julie explained that thousands of dollars worth of food gets thrown away each year. By having a fridge that keeps food fresh and organized, we can spend less money.
Jake Dell, owner of Katz’s Deli highlighted the storage features of the fridges. The middle and bottom have adjustable temperature-controlled drawer with 5 settings for meat, beverage, produce, cheese and citrus and temperatures ranging from 32 to 40 degrees.
The drawer are designed to keep specific foods and drinks at the proper storage temperature, but can also be set as the same temperature as the overall refrigerator.
After the demonstration, we had the chance to ask questions about the The French door refrigerators and learn more about the technology. I learned that
- The French door refrigerators feature TwinChill™ evaporators, which separate airflow and climates in the fresh food and freezer sections to help maintain temperature and humidity levels to keep foods fresh. The separation of the air limits the amount of humidity in the freezer, reducing freezer burn while keeping freezer odors from mixing with refrigerator odors.
- The French door refrigerator models exceed ENERGY STAR ® standards. These new models are the first bottomfreezers in the U.S. to use cyclopentane foam, which reduces the greenhouse gas emissions during manufacturing and at the end of the product’s life cycle, ultimately making this line better for the environment.
- Some GE French door refrigerator models will also feature GE’s Brillion™ connected home technology, Which coupled with a GE Nucleus, enables a consumer to receive maintenance and service alerts, monitor energy consumption, and adjust some appliance settings remotely.
Then I had the chance for a close up with the French door refrigerators.
I was impressed with the amount of space available in both the top and bottom of the fridges.
I loved the drop down tray option to save room and the ice/water/hot water dispenser
I was also able to see where the filter was and how easy it was to change.
These new GE french door refrigerators really make things easier in the kitchen for today's modern families.
The GE Profile refrigerators will be available in June, and the GE Café models will be available later this year. The range of estimated retail prices is from $1,699 to $2,999
